Built with keen efficiency and reliable performance in mind the goal of the project was to build user-friendly, feature rich product not bound by your choice of operating system environment. As the legendary mythological dog who never failed in catching his pray, Lailaps (also “Strom-wind”) will stand by your side waiting for your command to retrieve new data from the wilderness of Word-Wide Web.

As we are nearing our first public release we welcome your interest in our project and hope that you will find it compelling to try it out.

Here are highlights of some most notable features found in Lailaps:

1. Manage huge lists of download tasks

Lailaps was designed to show superb performance and low memory impact even when managing thousand of downloads, filtering and sorting them to ease you control over even most desperate situations.

2. Use all the power your hardware can give you.

By using sophisticated and well designed thread model, Lailaps will take advantage of multiple CPU cores you computer might have or efficiently use single-core CPU to create responsive user interface and boost speed of multiple download streams.

3. Customize it.

We give you as much control over how, where, why and what Lailaps would do or will not do to allow you customize it to you personal preferences. That includes huge variety of core engine settings, behavior preferences, appearance customizations to satisfy your taste and much more.

4. Comprehend it.

6. Browser Integration

We aim to integrate with industry most used Internet Browsers today to help you achieve better user experience. Currently we have already integrated with KDE Konqueror browser.

7. It's Java and we love it!

This project was fueled by our wish to create exemplary Java application to prove that Java is not slow or not usable for desktop applications. We spend days improving architecture, rewritten code a dozen times to achieve better performance and constantly argued as for how to make things not just work but work in the best way possible.

We glad you have interest in our project and hope you can give us some feedback on it and, of course, we would like you to enjoy using it!
