[Note: this is for reporting issues on the JaikuEngine open source project. if you are reporting an issue with the jaiku.com service, please send it to support@jaiku.com] What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Open a thread in jaiku.com that has a number of comments from users who have made their jaikus unavailable to the public and who aren't your contacts. 2. You will not see the comments of said users and the thread page will report the number of comments to be smaller than the overview page. Expected result is to see the comments of everyone participating in the particular thread, whether they're public or not otherwise. Participating in a thread should be consider an opt in for that case.

Quick/short-term fix is to return to pre-AppEngine/JaikuEngine way of dealing with private profiles. A potentially better fix would be to make this be a *specific* feature that can be changed. The default behaviour should be same as pre-AppEngine i.e comments in a public thread are public. If enabled (ie completely private profile), there should be some form of indicator that a "private profile" made a comment in the thread at the appropriate point.

This is due to some inconsistencies in the data import. I have a patch to fix this pending, http://rietku.appspot.com/16
