IS your main hard drive nearly full? Ramona: it looks like you have a bad install that is missing some image files. Can't say for sure.. Try uninstalling and re-installing the application. SWPearcy: it's possible that mencoder is unhappy encoding the input. I didn't write it, so can't really help much, but some things to try include choosing a different encoder format, or an entirely different encoder (try the handbrake one).

i dont know how to change the encoder to handbrake...it doesnt seem to be a very easy option to change...can you explain to me how to change it...now4real954@aol.com thank you

Click on the little "Prefs" button at the bottom. There should be a "Format" pulldown button. Click on that, and select "Handbrake iPhone" or something similar. Hit OK.

Handbrake requires that you have Leopard (MacOS X 10.5) installed btw.

ok well i have handbrake...thats not the problem...now my question is...since i have it set for AppleTv as the setting in the pulldown menu that you are talking about...so what happens once i select Handbrake? handbrake has many settings as well! what do i do after that to get it to do the Apple TV setting that i need?

It doesn't matter if you have handbrake already installed. It doesn't use that. It uses a built-in version, and that version only works on 10.5 You just select "Handbrake AppleTV" and you're done. As for what do you do to change settings? Your best bet is to not change them. If you *REALLY* want to try and mess with the settings, it's under Prefs, Advanced, Video Encoder Options. The FAQ talks about it. Anyways, this is not really a discussion of mencoder crashing... Marking as 'WontFix' since I don't have any clue what caused the crashes or if it's still crashing, but at least you have a semblance of a workaround. If you have questions about running the program that are not answered in the FAQ, post to the forum please...

ok nobody said i wanted to change settings...i just want it to work...and i really dont appreciate your rude condescending and dismissive attitude towards my questions and this posting... and you have not asked me for any console or log information so you can find out why your pathetic program is being trouble... i really dont appreciate your attitude towards me on this matter...WONT FIX is called a COP OUT and is not very DEVELOPER of you... you need to get a grip and learn how to talk to people if you are going to be someone that makes things for people VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE DEVELOPER AND HIS ATTITUDE MORE THAN I AM THE SOFTWARE

I am marking it wontFix because it's a problem with mencoder. There are plenty of videos that mencoder doesn't work for. This is a known issue (first question in the FAQ), which I can't really fix it since it's a bug in an underlying tool. That's why I suggested a workaround (using a different encoder). That was neither condescending nor dismissive (although this reply is both, and with good reason). I honestly don't care how "DEVELOPER" you think I am. I similarly don't really care how dissatisfied you are with me. I took some old code that wasn't working for me. And made it work for me. The underlying source code is a pain in the butt, but it's certainly available for you to make fixes too. You are welcome to submit patches to it, or if you hate my development that much, take the source and support your own codebase. Alternatively, if you want a program that comes with support (and someone who will put up with your rude bitching), may I suggest paying for Roxio's software?
