What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The file appears to download and convert completely. No errors are reported. But the resulting
file cannot be opened using quicktime.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.6b2 OS X 10.5.5

Please provide any additional information below.

damn :(
This is a direct use of the "AppleTV" preset from handbrake, so the most I can do
is submit it back to them and hope they can fix it. Is this the same issue with
1080i working and 720p not working? or is everything broken?

Or, it's a stupid bug on my end :)
  in the advanced prefs, switch
  -Z
  with
  --preset

(testing it now.. removing the beta until I know if that's right)

I tried taking a regular show and encoding it (non-HD) to handbrake quicktime, and
got something that worked although looked 'squished' (I think quicktime ignores
aspect ratios).

What is the error quicktime gives you when it refuses to play?

The error says:

The movie could not be opened

An invalid sample description was found in the movie.

By the way, this occurs with both SD and HD shows for me.

Interesting ...
Another user is reporting that it's simply failing to finish the encode on their
platform. Looks like I'm going to have to try and figure out what's going on...
There might be some issue with handbrake's appletv setting.

Do you happen to have the file /tmp/iTiVoDL2-<yourname>
still lying around (it gets changed with every new encode.. I'm hoping to see the
one from your appleTV download). It's the output of handbrake while it is encoding...

Unfortunately, I don't have that file lying around anymore.

As of 1.6b4 AppleTV still does not work. iTivo shows that it finishes but trying to open it gives the error:

The movie could not be opened

An invalid sample description was found in the movie.

Figured out the problem!

Change the extension from .mp4 to .m4v.

I noticed that when I use the Handbrake program directly and use the AppleTV format it uses the extension
.m4v, so I changed it on iTiVo and now all the files finish downloading and work great. Please change the
default extension in the next Beta to .m4v.

Ok, thank you!
Making the change now. Will go out with the next beta
