When I pick "no encode" and then go into advanced settings it shows "mp4". If I choose another setting and then switch back to "no encode" it shows "mpg". However, if I restart and go back to advanced settings (still on "no encode") it shows "mp4" again.

Aha! OK I see the problem. Summary: When starting up, it ignores the download setting's file extension, and uses mp4. However, as soon as you change download format, it takes the new setting (which it promptly ignores if it restarts iTiVo.) Fixing .. Thank you for catching this
