From time to time, the video breaks up into blocks of color for about a second and then corrects
itself. This is present at least once in every video I have downloaded. I have been using different
versions of iTivo for the past couple of weeks and

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. iTivo is set to iPhone super-res; comskip is turned off.
2. Download a video.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Video contains glitchy moments of blocky colors.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Mac OS X 10.5.5, iTivo 1.4b1

Please provide any additional information below.
I was interested if this is a problem that occurs from downloading and converting at the same
time. Could you add an option to download first then convert afterward?
I have never seen this happen with Toast... I started using your iTivo because it is nicer and
simpler than Toast. Thanks for iTivo!

Odd. I use that (and the iphone setting) regularly and haven't seen this.

I don't think that the 'streaming' part of it is doing it, but if you're willing to
try, turn on 'commercial skip'. If you do, it will first fully download, then
analyze for commercials, and then re-encode on the fully downloaded file. (so it
will be a lot slower, but will do the stages seperately).

(so apart from it cutting out bits of your show, it should work).

If it works, then I'm a little stumped. Does 'iphone' mode also have this problem?

This really sounds more like a slightly corrupt file (either before or after the
encoding). Not sure.

I did some un-scientific tests and wanted to get back to you. I downloaded two shows today with commercial
skip turned on - one in iPhone mode and one in iPhone super-res mode. I've been watching both of them and I
haven't noticed any instances of the picture breaking up.

I don't want to leave commercial skip turned on because it is taking the wrong parts out of my shows (PBS shows
for my daughter).

Is it possible to make download then decode an option that can be turned on?

Everything is Possible :)

I'd love to figure out why this is happening though. Hasn't happened here at all :(.

I'll put this on as a feature request. It shouldn't be too difficult to do code up
so it should make it into an upcoming release soon.

One more addition to this issue - I was talking to my husband about this and asking if it might be an issue with
our network? He suggested trying plugging in via ethernet instead of using my wireless connection. I did so and
then did another download (with commercial skip turned off). However, I still got the blocky moments in the
resulting video.
I don't know what could be causing this.

If you're feeling adventurous. Download 1.4b3 (from the download page, or just
select 'check for beta' in the advanced tab.

There should be a new option now to 'download first before encoding' in the
advanced prefs.

See if that makes you happy (it will slow down your downloads)

Marking as 'fixed' since I have very little left to work with.. I'm assuming the new
option resolves your problems?

I have not seen this problem in a while, so yes, I think you can consider it fixed. Thank you!
