Both Itivo and kmttg are apparently not working. Must be a Tivo update that has caused 3rd party downloads to fail
Feb 16, 2013
It may be due to this: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=501069
Feb 16, 2013
Yeah that's what it is. You can fix it by manually changing the time of your computer, but that messes up a lot of other stuff. kmttg has a fix for it, but iTivo hasn't been updated yet. Here's a forum with some insight on it: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=387725&page=159

I found a fix: First, open Terminal and type in this command: curl -c cookies.txt -d "tivo:MAK" http://tivoip:80 (replace "MAK" with the Media Access Key and "tivoip" with the ip of your tivo) Then cookies.txt will be placed in your home folder. Open it, and change the value 1360972800 to whatever you want (it's the number of seconds past January 1, 1970 that the cookie will expire). I just changed the first 1 to a 2. Then, save it to some folder out of the way (I just threw it in my Documents folder). Then, go to iTivo in the Applications folder, right-click, and click "Show Package Contents". Go to Contents, then Resources, then right-click on http-fetcher.pl, and open it in Text-Edit. Once there, change "-c /tmp/cookies.txt" to "-b /Users/'home folder'/Documents/cookies.txt" (change 'home folder' to the name of your user account). Then re-open iTivo and it should start working again!

Fix works. Tried to make cookies.txt part of the package and couldn't get it to work right away so went back to placing it in the documents folder and worked like a charm.

Thanks so much for the guidance to fix download error that suddenly emerged. Works perfectly now.
Feb 17, 2013
Thanks for posting this.
Feb 18, 2013
Worked for me too. THANKS!
Feb 18, 2013
That's working for me also- thank you!
Feb 18, 2013
Thank you! This worked for me as well.
Feb 18, 2013
tried this workaround, didn’t work -- got rid of "Cannot Download __(show name)" message, but endlessly said “(phase 1/1) Downloading __(show name) (waiting for TiVo)”.

I have written up the fix outlined on line #8 and posted it on my blog. http://macithelp.blogspot.com/2013/02/continuing-adventures-with-itivo.html It walks you through the fix and should help those users not versed in terminal commands and editing resource files. Thanks for all your great work!

Referencing my reply #15 above. I went back and started over with the process and everything is working fine. I must have mistyped something the first time around.

Fix works. Thanks. Anyone know how to write code for TWO Tivos? Do I double up on terminal entry with TWO IPs or will that overwrite the one that works?
Feb 25, 2013
Awesome, also gave it a try and mine is working just fine now. Many, many THANKS!
Feb 25, 2013
@catchaph..., is code only works if you use one TiVo. If you use two, someone else found another fix. Change -c /tmp/cookies.txt to -c cookie sid=abc . That should work.
Feb 25, 2013
@fetchten... Thanks for reco in #20. The line suggested for change no longer exists in the iTivo Contents/Resource string where it was found -- been replaced by later changes shown here. Where would I place this alternate line?
Feb 25, 2013
@catchaph..., I also have multiple TiVos (three on one MAK, and one on another MAK). If you run the curl command like this: curl -c cookies.txt -d "tivo:MAK" http://tivoip:80 -d "secondtivo:MAK" http://secondtivoip:80 -d "thirdtivo:MAK" http://thirdtivoip:80 ...and so on, that will generate a cookies.txt file that should work (don't forget to change the date in cookies.txt before relaunching iTivo). I'm was not able to get it working with my fourth TiVo, which has a separate MAK. I'm troubleshooting that and will post what I discover. Hope that helps. Many thanks to fetchen... for the original fix!

An update to my previous post. Once I rebooted the TiVo HD with the different MAK, I was able to connect using the cookies.txt file generated by my curl command (described in #22). A more accurate recap, here: curl -c cookies.txt -d "tivo:MAK" http://tivo_ip:80 -d "second_tivo:MAK" http://second_tivo_ip:80 -d "third_tivo:MAK" http://third_tivo_ip:80 -d "fourth_tivo:MAK2" http://fourth_tivo_ip:80 (I added a few underscores to make it easier to read) Please don't forget "-d" in front of each different TiVo. I don't know if it will work with just one "-d"

Thank you! this fix worked for me on two tivos, same MAK for iTivo 1.7.6 on OSX 10.6.8. Many thanks for restoring my business travel quality of life watching Tivo shows on my iPad.

I had all kinds of trouble with this - I missed the change in the argument in http-fetcher from -c to -b. I got it on about the 3rd edit but I confirm this -does- work if you follow the instructions!
Mar 7, 2013
Thanks fetchten...@gmail.com! It worked!
Mar 8, 2013
Thank you fetchten!! Your simple step by step instructions were easy to follow and fixed the problem. Unfortunately, TiVo has become it's own worse enemy. Poor customer support, slow overpriced hardware, and just an overall disregard for it's customers and the user experience.

So glad I discovered this fix...my TiVo was getting full!! :-)
Apr 11, 2013
Thanks fetchten!

Thanks fetchen & gattige.
Apr 22, 2013
Interesting fix. Yes it works, and a simple ten second text edit to update the IP if I need/want to pull shows off a different TiVo. Hopefully TiVo will fix this issue, until this happened, the iTiVo subscription worked like a charm.

Fetchen, I am so appreciative of your step by step instructions. Thanks so much for sharing this information.

Summary on how to fix this: 1. Locate the iTivo application, right-click and select Show Package Contents 2. Open Contents folder, then open Resources folder 3. Open http-fetcher.pl in a text editor, such as TextEdit or TextWrangler 4. Locate the long line starting with: $shellScript = "curl -q ... 5. After "-c /tmp/cookies.txt" add "-b sid=1" (no quotes, with spaces on each side) 6. Save and close the folder You shouldn't need to do all the lengthy steps involving curl and the cookie file. The above should be all you need to do.

thanks ghartwig, this worked perfectly :)
