Issue 10: Sum traffic to specific IP address instead of showing local address

Hi,

iptableslog is really great, as it is the only App that displays the traffic correctly.

Nevertheless I encountered some minor problems in the newest version. The App overview is really hard to read, because every package that is sent from the device IP address is listed as a new connection. As the outgoing port is random, the list gets pretty huge.

Example:

Application listing:

(10xxx) Kaiten Mail
Packets: xxx
Bytes: xxx
( date )

Addrs:
192.168.0.1:12235
Sent 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
Recv. 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
192.168.0.1:12236
Sent 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
Recv. 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
192.168.0.1:12237
Sent 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
Recv. 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
192.168.0.1:12238
Sent 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
Recv. 1 packets, xxxx bytes (date)

192.168.0.1 is my own "address" in this case, the range 12235 to 12238 are random ports for outgoing connections.

I think all these packages belong to the same connection, so they should be listed under the destination address, which does not change. I don't think the outgoing port is interesting, because it changes randomly. The destination port is relevant.

200.200.200.200:IMAPS
Sent 4 packets, xxxx bytes (date)
Recv. 4 packets, xxxx bytes (date)

Thanks for reply,

rob

/edit: Doh! I posted this to the wrong thread at first, this one should be right.

Hi,

the new graphing is really georgeous! You should make your program more public, like posting it to xda-developers.

I hope this comment reopens the issue, as I am still experiencing my described behaviour. I attached a screenshot showing the issue. All blackened out IP addresses are the same, each with one package.

Please e-mail me a copy of the logcat output of the app starting up (turn on debug logging in the IptablesLog preferences).

Oh, and glad you like the graphs! I'm still polishing/improving the app up from 0.x to 1.0 before I release it more publicly. :-) At the very least, it needs to be able to run as a service in the background, with start/stop capability!

(In fact, this is now added and 0.7.0 is right around the corner -- with tons of performance improvements such as loading IPs on background threads, loading app icon/labels on-demand, etc.)
