5.3 How to 'Play'

5.3 How to 'Play': a guide to iGeo.

The game is composed of four stages, as follows: 'Easy' (containing 10 questions), 'Medium' (containing 10 questions), 'Hard' (containing 10 questions), 'Open-ended' (continous play).

For the first three stages, the user will get a chance to answer all 10 questions, requiring a minimum of 5 correct answers to progress to the following stage.

Once the hard stage is cleared, the user has an option of continuing indefinitely (chasing a possible high-score), receiving questions from any of the first three categories.

The 'Open-ended' stage will continue untill the user accumulates 5 wrong answers, or chooses to stop play.

For all stages, each question is worth 1 point, and a high score is recorded.

5.3.1 'The question' The user is prompted with a question of the form: 'Where is «country name/capital name» located?'.

5.3.2 'The answer' Following the question, the user can move about the interactive world map, as shown in the 'Explore' tutorial, finding the answer, and 'Click' on what they believe to be the right answer (that is, click on a country or a capital).

5.3.3 'Right or Wrong' The game will then offer feedback on the selected answer, showing either a 'Right' or 'Wrong' message. There are no 2nd answers available, the result being either a pass or a fail. If the user sucessfully complets a stage, that is, get a minimum of 5 correct answers, they will be announced, and can proceed to the following stage.

5.3.4 'Score' The game will keep track of wrong answers, in the top left section of the screen (as shown in either Fig. 10,11,12), and the current score in the top right corner (as shown in either Fig. 10,11,12).

When the user ends a game (either by failing at a stage, or failing the open-ended part, or choosing to stop), their score will be recorded in a high scores database, viewable form the 'Play' menu.
