6. GlossaryApplication: A program or a piece of software designed and written to fulfill a particular purpose of the user. Browsable: Being able to interact with a computer screen by clicking a particular object or being able to move around the screen. Categorized: A division of things regarded as having particular shared characteristics. Double-Clicking: (Computer) Clicking on an icon or object twice to launch the application. Drag: Move across a computer screen using a tool such as mouse or with the touch of a finger. Environment: The natural wold, as a whole or in a particular geographical area. Explore mode: To explore the virtual map of iGeo. Explore: To travel in or through (an nfamiliar country or area) in order to learn about or familiarize oneself with it. Geography: The study of physical features of the Earth and their location on a map. Globalize: To be able to develop something that can used and accessed all around the world. HSPA: Technology used to transfer data over the GSM network. iGeo: A geography game application that lets the user move around a virtual map to see explore different places. It also incorporates a play mode where users are prompted with a question and have to correctly pin point its location on the map. Indefinitely: for an unlimited or unspecified period of time. Initial: Occurring at the beginning. Interactive: (An electronic device) allowing two-way flow of information between an electronic device and a user, responding to the user's input. iPhone: The iPhone is an internet-connected, multimedia enabled smartphone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. iPod Touch: Is a portable media player designed by and marketed by Apple Inc. Justification: Show or prove to be right or reasonable. Labelling: Giving a name to an object. Link: A relationship between two objects. Open-ended: Having no determined limit or boundary. Play mode: To play the quiz part of iGeo. Progression: A movement or development towards destination or more advanced stage. Gradually moving up. Prompted: Computing (of a computer) request input from a user. Quick-play: Starting a game quickly letting the computer pick the settings for the user. Tutorial: An explanation of how the game is suppose to be played. Randomized: Employ random selection. Scoreboard: A board on which the score of a game is displayed. Scores: The number of points achieved in a game. Screenshot: An image of the display of a screen to demonstrate the operation of a program. Scroll: To be able to move up, down, or across a screen with the help of a bottom or a side bar. Swipe: To be able to move up, down, or across a screen without the help of a bottom or a side bar. Textual: Relating to a text. Virtual map: A computerized map. Visual: A picture, piece of film, or display used to illustrate or accompany an object. Wi-Fi: Wireless Fidelity, a group of technical standards enabling the transmission of data over a wireless network. GSM: Global System for Mobile, a standardized international system for digital mobile telecommunication. Wikipedia: A Web site that allows collaborative editing of its content and structure by its users. Zoom: To be able to enlarge a small location or to be able to view a far off distance easily.
