When a battle starts, on the main map we will show some effects. Here are the planned battle effects: - Initial puffs of smoke with cannon sound effects - Projectiles targeted at the enemy ship, which will fly a straight path and disappear on a line perpendicular to the one drawn between the center points of the two ships. While in flight the projectiles images will rotate. - Need a simple graphic for each shot type (ball, grape, chain) - If there is enough time grape could be a lot of specks that spread while in flight - A few splashes around each ship will be shown when the shots have arrived - A few small, cheesy cartoon explosions will be rendered on ships - Play some impact/explosion sounds - If a ship is destroyed it should either have a large explosion or sink somehow That should about sum it up. Shouldn't be too bad and will be worth it.
