This is a feature request: as a developer, I want to process my data
offline.

It would be fantastic to be able to download my db to my local machine,
modify it, and then upload it again. This would be useful for backing up
my content, as well as doing CRON-like processing (overnight, perhaps)
that cannot easily be done during the time within a get request.

This affects me for all apps; notifications tend to show up only when the phone is woken up by touching the screen or some other external action.

The phone is at full charge most of the time and on WiFi. I have Battery Saver and Adaptive Battery turned off. Many apps are affected including Gmail, Signal, Slack, and Phanpy (a PWA in Chrome). I'm running Android 14 on a Pixel 8, Build Number AP1A.240305.019.A1.

I made a Reddit post about this about a month ago which people keep finding. New comments every day saying "this is happening to me too, is there a fix?" Not many details in most of the comments but may be a source of info from other affected users.

Most annoyingly, this happens with Messages (SMS/RCS) and PHONE CALLS. This is such a basic, essential phone function that I cannot in good faith ever purchase a Pixel device again. Please fix this.

By the way, this is NOT specific to the P8P or beta. This is happening on Pixel 8 with the standard OS, as well. Calls go straight to voicemail for the caller.

Hello, I'm also in the UK (but using iD who are on the Three network) and experiencing the same problem.

I've set various apps to unrestricted battery usage in case that affected things but continue to expressive the opportunity!

Searching again today because WhatsApp (which I have set to unrestricted battery usage) notifications didn't arrive until I unlocked my phone and were from 15 minutes ago. Battery is >80% and both WiFi and 4G were available. My phone was not in DnD mode.
I have a Pixel Watch 1 which the phone is connected to via Bluetooth but I was not wearing this at the time.

Don't remember encountering anything similar with my Pixel 7 Pro or any other android devices.

It also prevents alarms from firing. When you power on the device, along with a plethora of other notifications, you'll also see voicemails for the calls you missed, and a notification of "missed alarm" with no details other than the time you were supposed to wake up, but didn't.

I think I fixed this problem on my phone by turning off "Adaptive Connectivity". I don't know what that setting is supposed to do but it seems to be breaking timely notifications. Details in this Reddit post.

I'm experiencing the same behaviour on my Pixel 8 since I bought it in January.
For me at least following apps are affected (most important for me): Whatsapp, Gmail, MS Teams.
The notifications are not always delayed, but most of the time (could be 5 mins, 10 mins, ... , 45 mins, etc.).
And if I pick up the phone and unlock the display, the notifications come in or in some cases only when I open the related app.
The most unpleasant thing for me is, that also MS Teams calls (not only messages) are sometimes affected. Suddenly I get a missed Teams call notification, but the phone was not ringing. I have a very good and stable Wifi connection, so it's definitley not related to a bad network connection.

My ticket got merged with this, but yes same issue, I had adaptive connectivity off, always do, along with any battery optimizations and data saving crap. I see the same issues with Gmail, exchange email clients, google voice, etc. Same behavior where I can go hours with no notifications until I wake the phone. I also have AOD on. Pixel Fold here.

My Pixel 7 is only two months old. Since the most recent software update at the end of March, my Pixel 7 has had delayed text messages. This has occurred 7 different times with a text delay ranging from 3 to 12 hours in the past 2 weeks. This has happened with MMS, SMS, and group messages. It has happened with different contacts. I have talked with AT&T support five times and they have assured me the issue is fixed, but this continues to happen which signifies to me that this is a Google issue. Others online have also reported this issue. I tried using a different messaging app and had the same issue using both Messages and Textra. It is unacceptable to not be receiving text messages for 12 hours. I have been loyal to Google pixel for 7 years and this issue is causing me to question if I can remain using a Pixel. Please fix this issue ASAP or I will be trying to file a warranty on my device.

Pixel 8 Pro, same here, notifications are constantly delayed from a few minutes to hours. This bug breaks the basic functionality of the smartphone, anything related to push notification is affected.

Turning off "Adaptive Connectivity" and "Battery Manager" as adviced does not solve the problem.

Can confirm this bug was introduced with QPR2 in March and no following updated solved it.

Same problem on my Pixel 7 since the March update I think. This wasn't happening at the beginning of thia year.

Notifications from the security GPS tracker for my kid don't arrive in time for me to respond in an emergency rendering the service almost useless. My wife's iPhone continues to receive them instantly.

I get a deluge of other delayed notifications when I wake up the phone after the screen has been off more tha 5 minutes or so. This is a critical bug that needs fixing ASAP..

I, too, am getting delayed notifications. It seems to happen when the phone is off of the charger and the display is locked for a certain amount of time. I have several apps that I depend on the notifications but the notifications don't come through until I unlock the phone. Then I get multiple notifications that are out of order and I have to try to piece together time-frames. Absolutely stupid.

Thank you for reporting this issue.

From the log analysis, things look normal to us.

If the issue persists, please file another bug with a newer bug report that includes:

the time at which the notification was expected
the time it was actually received.
the app which the notification is expected

We also took a look at some of the other comments and they do not appear to be related to the issue described by the original issue.

In the future we would need a separate bug with bug reports to investigate each issue further.
