What would you like to see us add to this API?
Currently, the smallest unit of time on a motion chart is a day. The chart
would be far more useful if time was also supported.

What component is this issue related to (PieChart, LineChart, DataTable,
Query, etc)?
Motion Chart

I LOVE the motion charts, but the lack of hour and minute time units means I can't

use it in many of the places I want to.

I'm also enjoying the easy-to-deploy awesomeness of this. I'd hope to see the
priority of this issue raised, since it almost blocks the usage of the Motion Charts
with finer grained timedata.

I like the Motion Chart a lot as well, but the fact that no year lower then 1900 can
be added. Or the no other scale then a date can be used is a big problem. Hope this
can be changed.

yes, please add at some sort of hour, min, sec.

Or also you could allow the time-axis value be a string and it would be on the user
to add them in order and space them correctly. That way you wouldn't have to
anticipate everyone's possible date/time format needs.

Just an idea.

Is there any future plan to add this feature? [It's the most requested featured]
Any chance to have access to the code to help/hack it?

by the way, the motion chart does support date js objects with hour, minutes and seconds
resolution, but
apparently the problem is how they manage data interpolation [by day, not by points]

Hi,

I also think it would be great if you could add support for this.

At the moment it cannot be used for real-time analysis. Daily/ yearly trends are about
all you can do and this is only good for analyzing peak values not profiles.

The annotated timeline can plot datetime so I don't see why not this chart,

First the sad news: the MotionChart, as it is implemented in flash, is being deprecated.
Just as for the AnnotatedTimeLine chart, we don't have the resources to continue enhancing
the flash-based charts, though we will make security-related fixes as required.

But the good news is that I think I can implement a MotionChart using SVG-based corecharts
with a modification of the ChartRangeFilter, and then it will support many more types
of charts, and types of values on both axes. I've started working on this, thanks,
in part, to the numerous requests in this forum.

We are monitoring this forum, as well as all the others we know about. You'll have
to believe me that there is a lot of work on our plates, and we are adjusting priorities
as we figure out where our efforts will be most effective.

Thanks for your continuing interest and patience. The project to reimplement the MotionChart
is progressing, and I've got the basics working internally. Before the actual release
of the new version, there will be a series of smaller feature enhancements and bug
fixes to enable the new implementation. in the areas of the Dashboard, Controls, and
animation. I am anticipating the new version will be available in about two months.

Great that's awesome.
Not sure if this is the right place for a feature request:

What would be really handy is the ability to change the background of the Motionchart.
We have data that has longitude and latitude information and it would be really cool
if it was possible to put the circles on a Google Maps or at least a static map.

@uemit, interesting idea. It would be better to post as a separate feature request
so people could find it from the subject line. But making the new motion chart background
transparent will allow you to overlay it on another display, such as Google Maps, or
a GeoChart.

Just saying, after four years Google is still unable to chart motion in hours and minutes.

We're busy flooding here in our county and I spent the better part of a night trying
to plot flood data in motion to help people understand the movement (and danger) of
water. Only to find, unbelieving, the motion chart does not support anything less than
a day.

What would Hans say? What are your priorities?

If you just need a way of visualising, you can just use a number instead of
a date time and calculate the number of seconds since the start that you're
interested in.

I've done this many times and it works fine.

I'm still hopeful that the guys are working on a new release with revised
technology and I'll continue to use this version as long as I can.
