This was caused by a change in timing in the table construction.

A race condition existed where if the entire table could be composed before
the progress meter was initialized, but then delayed execution one cycle in
order to finish binding the row items, the progress meter replaced the table
content and the row items couldn't be set as the table had only 1 row in it
(the progress meter).

This whole delayed execution of creating the patch table is a mess.
