Issue 1619: please update jetty dependency to version 8

Hi,

I try to package gerrit for Debian. We only have Jetty 8.1.3 in Debian but not version 7. I tried to compile gerrit with Jetty 8 but there are many changes that I can't do without deeper knowledge of Gerrit and Jetty.

Thank you, Thomas Koch

I've somehow solved all errors in Eclipse when using Jetty 8. But I've absolutely no idea what I've been doing and whether it's sane.

But maybe this might help to get you started?

Could you give me an estimate whether updating to Jetty 8 will be on your roadmap anytime soon?

I don't think the attached patch is the right way to do the upgrade.

I posted a change https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/38601

I'm a bit puzzled. There are still imports pointing to org.mortbay.jetty e.g. in com.google.gerrit.gwtdebug.GerritDebugLauncher. Shouldn't those be updated to org.eclipse.server?

That is only used for developers debugging Gerrit with the GWT browser plugin. And its based on the GWT toolkit supplying a version of Jetty 6 as part of gwt-dev.
