I would like the ability (through the GUI) to delete change branches from the repository if the change has been abandoned.

The benefit of this change is that the repository can garbage collect objects related to abandoned changes (some of which may contain mistakes like very large objects, like jar files, which were the reason to abandon the change in the first place).

I posted a workaround to this issue at https://www.onyxpoint.com/deleting-abandoned-commits-from-gerrit-code-review/.

It's not the most user-friendly thing in the world but it appears to work well for permanently trashing abandoned changes.
