It has been a long term standard for my team before the move to git and gerrit to use the subject: BUG:XXXX - comment ScanTrackingIds does not match on the commit message subject, only the footer.

Note that you can use commentlinks for this. The match will not be highlighted in the main subject title, but is in the full changelog message displayed below that.

@Ed, please reread comment number 1. We're talking about trackingids, not commentlinks. The discussion is about being able to search with "tr:..." keyword. Comment 1 clearly says that commentlinks is not what we're talking about.

We also use our bug numbers in the subject line since it's easier to see the bugs when using a oneline log. I think this would be a huge boon for us as we could make really nice search URLs to find all changes related to a bug.

Gerrit has the secondary index (like Lucene) now. I think this feature is not needed anymore.

@mav: it does, but that still does not get indexed as a "trackingid", so that e.g., the "tr:JIRA-123" search predicate would find it. "message:JIRA-123" does work now that Lucene is being used for fulltext search, but it doesn't get indexed as a tracking id.

When will this feature been implemented? to support trackingid not only in footer section but also in subject section of the comment

We also use put reference to bug numbers in the subject line, so it would be great if trasckid could be used for the subject line too. |
