| Issue 3511: | Make List option in Project -> List option default as it is the only option | |

If I want to search for a project, I have to click Projects and afterwards "List". As List is the only option I suggest to remove it or to make this selection the default if I click on the Projects. Here is what I get if I click on Projects: http://postimg.org/image/782oednxh/ Here is what I think we should get: http://postimg.org/image/qbp4r8ywj/

I think the 'list' menu entry should stay. But maybe clicking on 'Project' could display the list if coming from any other top-level menu? But the following questions come to my mind: - how long does the generation of the project list take for large installations? - how to handle the filter-settings? Are they remembered? - is it possible without a major rewrite? Actually if we change the logic here it shoud be done for all top-level menu items to keep the user experience consistent.

Would be definitely nicer if coming from another top-level menu that the first sub-menu entry is automatically selected.

> I think the 'list' menu entry should stay. But maybe clicking on 'Project' could > display the list if coming from any other top-level menu? This would be doable, but then it should be done for all top menus and not just the 'Projects' menu. However I'm not sure if I like this behaviour. This would mean that whenever I want to navigate to a menu item in another top level menu, that is not the first item, it would unnecessarily load a page, wasting my time and resources of the server. > - how long does the generation of the project list take for large installations? The project list is paged, so it would only load the first page and the time for this should be independent from the total number of projects. > - how to handle the filter-settings? Are they remembered? No. When you enter a filter it becomes part of the URL, so you can bookmark the page with the filter, but it is lost when you navigate away to another page. > - is it possible without a major rewrite? Maybe.

Yes, Edwin mentioned correctly the trade-offs we would have to make. From my side I would think this may not need a very high priority.

I agree, definitely not a very high priority to enhance this. |
