Hi all,

Is there any plan for an "ownership of review" or "I will review this" workflow in Gerrit at the current time? The problem simply that multiple people currently may do a review, unaware that the other is reviewing. Of course this leads people wasting time, and can be quite frustrating.

We work in a relatively small group of 5 people, however even we have seen several times. We are currently operating on a flat basis - i.e. everyone has +2 ability, so maybe that's a cause of the issue.

I'd envisage the solution to be a button "I will review", which gives some concept of review-ownership of that patchset to that user. Then if any other user clicks on a file diff, a warning could be given that another user has review ownership.

Thoughts?

This is a bit of a complicated problem, because a 'review owner' flow works really well for your group but is not what some other groups want.

I believe the current solution to this request is for us to implement arbitrary labels on a change, similar to how this issue tracker lets us put arbitrary labels on an issue. See Issue 287 .

The other solution would be a plugin which modified the UI to support this flow.
