In a single commit, convert a symlink to be a regular file. For example:
rm my-link
echo hi > my-link
git add my-link
git commit -m "change my-link to be a file"
Push this for review. Gerrit will display my-link twice in the list of files impacted on the patch set:
- D my-link
- A my-link
Both have the same URL to view the file, as the path is the same. Following the link causes Gerrit to display only the first occurrence, which is always the delete. This makes it impossible to review the newly added file contents.
