| Issue 1686: | E-mail notifications when a change is abandoned | |
| 2 people starred this issue and may be notified of changes. | Back to list |
Gerrit 2.5 supports the following notification types (from the docs):
* new_changes: Only newly created changes.
* all_comments: Only comments on existing changes.
* submitted_changes: Only changes that have been submitted.
* all: All notifications.
It would be great if we could also enable notifications for when a change is abandoned.

We have configured notifications to go to all developers, so we don't want to turn on all_comments to avoid excessive noise. Right now we have just new_changes and submitted_changes which is working pretty well. The only problem is when someone falls behind and is going through the notifications in their inbox, they might see a new_change notification for something which has since been abandoned. It's not obvious from looking at the notifications that it was abandoned, so they click on the change and might not see the "Abandoned" comment right away. If there was an abandoned_change notification after it, they would know to skip that change. So it's just a convenience thing.
