| Issue 162: | Need better change description for Gerrit merge/commits | |
| Back to list |
Reported by Ed Heyl <edheyl@google.com> on Mon May 04 11:26:06 PDT 2009 Source: JIRA GERRIT-162 Affected Version: 2.0.10 Environment: n/a When Gerrit needs to merge a reviewed change, the resulting commit/merge uses --log, which doesn't have enough information: It would be nice if Gerrit did the same thing that the automerger and autoimporter does: 1) keep the author (but committer would still be gerrit) 2) the subject should contain a short indication that it's gerrit, the original short sha1, and the original submit (truncated if necessary)

Changes I6fd61e6b9a428dba61aa6b3ec28f936fc7e404f6 and I4428f5924844d6ae7b219a0643f5e93cf01e678e try to improve on the commit message as best as I'm willing to do right now. A merge isn't a cherry-pick, it shouldn't look like one in the log.
