It would be very nice to be able to merge directly from the Gerrit interface. Currently I have to get to a clean state in my local branch, fetch from Gerrit, and then run our merge script. It would be so much easier just to click "merge" in the web interface.

What does your merge script do? I assume this is a request to create a merge commit of 2 different branches Gerrit tracks and publish that commit for review?

Yea, it just merges the Gerrit branch into master. As a non-git expert, that's all I know :)

So the request is not to publish anything to Gerrit, but rather take an "approved" topic on Gerrit and merge it into master.

Isn't this what the "Submit" button does?

Yes, I guess it is there in the latest version, thanks.

Gerrit has always had a Submit button, but it doesn't appear unless a change is ready to submit (necessary approvals and such).
