It'd be cool if there was a link to just directly download a
git-format-patch style patch from the review webpage

+1 - i really miss that. Also as there is no complete diff view, viewing all changes opens new window for each file which is not usable.

+1 on such a feature! Would be cool to get more "non-geek" reviewers simply testing or reading a simple .diff file without having to setup a git clone.

+1 seems like they would have had this from day 1 and carried it forward.

+1 This feature would make it a lot easier to quickly get a patch without a Git Repo

Especially when working in organizations where Gerrit is a frontend to the official Perforce or Subversion repository this can be useful.

+1 since currently we have problems where people without a git-client can't download a patch-file at all. Since gerrit already has access to the repo and the diffs etc. anyhow, outputing a .diff-file should not be such a big deal I guess?

+1 Please have this feature added. It's very helpful to able to get the direct .patch file and run some analysis for it. It could be code analysis code on diff, or it could be other useful scenarios where you can send a patch to a tester, and have it compiled to make sure it works for testing/debugging purpose.

I think it's too early to mark this as done.
So far war we only have the REST API to get the formatted patch, but the link/button in the UI to download the patch is still missing.

yes - it would be great to get a link/button on the UI as well

There is a REST API call available now https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/Documentation/rest-api-changes.html#get-patch however I tried changing the "patch" download command and it was rejected because of the complexity of writing a cross-platform command line that includes base64 decoding, HTTP authentication, and invoking some sort of HTTP client.
