For mail clients that support it, having mails expire can be a great benefit. Outlook supports Expiry-Date in an RFC 822 format which allows a mail to be housekept. Expiry-Date: Thu, 10 Feb 2011 16:55:39 +0000 If a configuration is present, e.g. sendmail.expiryDays, then a mail header should be added. The default should be 0 to mean "do not add this header". Similarly, it would be good to add an Importance flag which allows mails to be marked as low priority. Importance: low Importance: high I'd be happy to supply patches for these if you can point me to where the settings are parsed and where the mail construction Apis are.
