Reported by eldroi...@gmail.com, Apr 23, 2012
Affected Version:

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1) Logged as an admin user #1 in FF
2) Logged as an admin user #2 in Chrome
3) As user #2 removed user #2 from the administrators group
4) Returned to FF (logged as user #2)
5) Clicked Settings
— got the following error

Download of .../4.cache.js failed status 404 not found

6) Clicked Admin -> groups
— Same error

7) Clicked Documentation -> Index
— 404 error

8) Clicked All -> Open
— works just fine

9) Clicked My -> Changes
— works fine

10) Signed out and signed in again
11) Repeated steps 5 to 9
— everything works fine

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I should be able to continue browse the site with my new set of permissions. I shouldn't get any application errors.

This sort of thing usually happens when the server is upgraded or its JAR files were deleted behind its back. I suspect the browser had some stale reference to the JavaScript files and the server was upgraded without the browser knowing what the new URLs for the new JavaScript files would be in the new version of the server.

Did you upgrade the server between when you initially opened the UI and when you tried to make these access control changes?

I retested this issue. You're right it's not permission related error. Most probably somebody was upgrading the server. It's difficult to check now. If I run into the issue again I'll check as soon as it happens if somebody's working with the server.
Meanwhile we can close the defect.
