Why dont you all keep the inode in the same tier as the blocks ? This way
you will also be able to recover some files if other devices get corrupted ?

For example if a file a.txt has blocks on tier 1 and the inode on tier 2.

Devices in tier 2 catch fire and are lost forever.

So this becomes a very ugly situation. You have the data but no inode.

If you keep Inode and Blocks on one tier then there are chances that you
may recover the things.

Like the file a.txt has inode on tier 1 and blocks on tier 1.

Suppose you have a LV with 100 devices.
And the first disk catches fire....
u wont have inodes as u have lost ur SB most probably.

So, this happens w/o Ohsm as well. So, this is not out prob.

So, even if you keep Inode and Blocks on one tier then there are chances that you
may not be able to recover the things.
