Currently work was on hold 
Till date i had seen the path for lvcreate,vgcreate but coudn't find much.
I am not getting much information about it.
Will update within the stipulated time

I just went through the libdevmapper.c file and libdevmapper.h.
I have attached the libdevmapper.c.The function dm_create_device fills the
information i suppose.Just have a look and confirm it.
Also if you find some information regarding how to use it pls let me know because i
am not able to get that.

The problem is almost resolved.
Kindly refer dmsetup.c , _status( ) 
This extracts the information from the kernel.

dmsetup is a tool.
we will have to write a similar utility for the same. I have written a test code and 
compiled against libdevmapper libraray, it works fine. 

@Greg,
I remember Ted's comment, atleast we have managed to eliminate the dm dependency as 
of now.

This functionality is already implemented in my latest code. 
Hence this is obsolete.
