List of Use Cases
Glossary at the end of the page.
Use Case: Calculate Data Functions
Main flow: Change DETs and calculate size
- Analyst selects an existing application or project.
- System displays all data groups that contain DETs maintained by the application. For each group it shows:
- Their dependencies from other data groups;
- Their DETs and indication of whether the DET is maintained by the application.
- Analyst enters all the Data Elementary Types maintained by the application.
- System stores the new data elementary type on the database.
- System displays all ILFs and EIFs of the application, together with the number of RLRs, number of DETs, complexity and functional size.
Extension flows
- 3a: Import DET from another application
- Analyst selects "Import DET from another application".
- System displays a list of existing applications.
- Analyst selects an application from the list and selects a Logical File from the application.
- The Logical File is added to the application and all DETs are considered maintained by the application.
Glossary
- ILF: Internal Logical File. A User identifiable group of logically related data maintained by the application through External Inputs.
- EIF: External Interface File. A User identifiable group of logically related data that is used for reference purposes only. Maintained by another application.
- DET: Data Element Type. A unique user recognizable field from a business perspective which participates in a transaction or is stored on a logical data file.
- RET: Record Element Type. A user recognizable subgroup of data elements within an ILF or EIF.
