Setuptools-compatibility makes it much easier to use django-forum in an automated build, or to publish as an egg on PyPI so others can just easy_install. - Create a directory 'forum' underneath tunk - Move all the current files into there - Drop the attached setup.py into trunk (ie. into the directory above the new forum directory)

I like this suggestion, and will move to this format at some point soon. I just don't want to upset everybody by moving their SVN tree around :) This forum package now has quite a small number of outstanding bugs and issues, so before I package up and release a 1.0 I will be sure to change it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am going to try adding this app into Pinax. Doing so will require the changes described in this issue as they will allow this app to be automagically installed by the new pip flavored external app management system employed for the Pinax trunk. I am going to go ahead and make these changes myself and I will let you know if I encounter any serious difficulties along the way. In the meantime if you need an example of a trivial app that can be installed automatically by Pinax, see django-wall on googlecode.

I would like to know if a decision will be made soon for this issue. Or maybe we can make a 1.0-alpha branch with this issue, the current other one, and the releasing a 1.0.

I don't have checkin access right now but will do this when I get home tonight. I should have done it long ago, sorry.

I've done it in a Mercurial version if you need it : http://bitbucket.org/jibaku/django-forum/

Committed in SVN r53. Thanks for the gentle prod :) Note to users that django-forum/forum/ must now be in your PYTHONPATH rather than just forum/.
