Insert an Audio-CD (which could be played by AIMP, WinMC), go to devices, doule click the CD.

Clementine should start playing the CD, but its loops trough all tracks (which are correctly named) and shows error "Could not read from CD." for each track.

Im using v0.7.3-468-g32d7096 on Win7.

Just out of curiosity, have you try with VLC? Does it work?

Works in VLC without problems. Tested with different CDs.

From the mailing list:

"Ok so I have tried the debug version 0.7.3-532-g8bfedeb and here is what I got trying to load Audio CD:

13:12:39.897 INFO SongLoaderInserter:97 Loading audio CD...
13:12:39.901 ERROR SongLoader:121 Error while changing CDDA GstElement's state

and the message about not being able to load audio cd...

I can see the cd in Device tab, but I can only eject the cd by using 'Safely remove device' and open Device Properties

When I try doubleclick on the device icon I get:

13:22:55.481 INFO DeviceManager:555 Connecting QUrl( "cdda:" )
13:22:55.481 INFO ConnectedDevice:43 connected QUrl( "cdda:" )".\E:" false

13:22:55.509 WARN Transcoder:256 Unsupported format in PresetForFileType: 0

I also tried to play the cd in VLC and it works without any problem...

Also seeing this issue on two machines with Win 7, however I have two machines with OpenSuSE 12.1 that are playing CDs without issue. All are using Clementine version 1.0.

Ive tested v1.0.0 with Win7 and it seems not to work yet.

This issue is a duplicate of #701

No, it's not really a duplicate of issue 701 . Issue 701 was about implementing CD support. If there is some bugs that prevent it to work in some case, it's better to track this in another issue.

Ive tested v1.0.1 with Win7 and it seems not to work yet. I get "Error while loading audio CD".
At Devices I see my player but it says 0 songs.
Foobar plays it normally.
Any solution?

I have Kubuntu 12.04 and Mint KDE 12 and I am finding that whilst Kubuntu plays CDs, Mint doesn't getting the error message "Could not read from CD." I have the same version of Clementine on both distros. One other thing, it would be nice if the tracks were named rather than just getting track numbers.

Clementine 1.2.3 (32bit) Win7 x64 Pro, same issue.
I think I'm done with Clementine. I found and used it for it's good Android remote control support - but I no longer have a need for that, and honestly VLC has good android remotes now as well.
It was an OK run while it lasted Clementine, but your developers don't want to take care of you and I can't keep nursing a sick puppy.

Can someone who this issue try with one of the developer build? http://builds.clementine-player.org/ We migrate to Gstreamer1.0 so hopefully this fixed this issue.

I've just installed http://builds.clementine-player.org/win32/release/ClementineSetup-1.2.3-1030-g946c038.exe (dated yesterday evening) and, while I no longer receive the "Could not read from CD" error message, there are no tracks listed so no ability to playback.

I updated to the release linked, from Feb 28.
Win32 build on Win7 x64.
It don't work. I don't know if Windows is intercepting it or if VLC is or
what, but it's a damned shame I can have VLC open and still open the CD via
Windows Media Player, but not Clementine. I can open the CD in a number of
other programs too. So I don't think it's anything else I have installed,
especially considering this is a different OS and computer than I used when
I originally reported the issue.

I'm getting this with Windows 8.1 x64, Clementine 1.2.3. Can't open the CD at all. This is with an external CD player, but other apps can read it just fine.

Has anyone tracked down the issue more specifically?

@SeenCanary

I did see the same thing happen on a Linux box with an old version of Gstreamer (pre 1.0 with a known defect). In that case updating Gstreamer to a version with a fix, fixed the issue.
At the time the win32 Clementine version was also using an pre1.0 Gstreamer version but it was updated back in Feb and the issue still remained.

I've just tried updating to a development build dated today (2015-09-28 - gdaddbde) and the behaviour is as I reported in March (no error but a listing of 0 tracks).

I am running Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit with Clementine v1.3.1 and can see my disc reading device but 0 tracks. I can eject the disc and view device properties but cannot rip or play my CD's. If it cannot be implemented it's almost best to just say it's a player and remove. It's still a great player and it's probably better and not all that inconvenient to just use EAC for personal cd Archiving.

Having this issue with Version 1.3.1-228-gd9b3a93 on Linux Mint 18.1 64bit Cinnamon

@SeenCanary

@mxa Can you please check your version of Gstreamer? As myself and (I think) others have mentioned, there was a known bug in older Gstreamer versions that lead to this behaviour and Clementine doesn't seem to have a minimum version requirement that precludes these versions.

On Linux Gstreamer is a pre-requisite that is up to the system admin to update but on Windows Clementine includes a copy of Gstreamer. I've just uninstalled, cleaned out the %%System Drive%%/Program Files (x86)/Clementine/ folder and installed the most recent dev build (2017-04-03 - g2c60481) and still get no error but a listing of 0 tracks on a CD.

However, I checked and Gstreamer are now doing Windows binaries which they weren't at the beginning of this ticket. I tried installing the current version (1.11.2 - I note the .dll in the Clementine folder is numbered 1.0-0) but it seems that Clementine is still using the .dlls bundled with itself, as I still get the same behaviour.
I don't have any other software that uses Gstreamer so I can't directly check whether even the current version is able to read the CD correctly outside of Clementine.

Windows 10 Pro x64 - not using an Insider build.

I haven't thought about Clementine in almost 2 years. Glad to see my time hasn't been wasted with this. Damned shame the devs can't figure out how to write (or import VLC's) disc reader.
