This is a permissions issue, adb should write its log somewhere it is allowed.

fixed
jo...@gmail.com <jo...@gmail.com> #5
Yeap, me too. I thought it was only my problem lol
an...@gmail.com <an...@gmail.com> #6
Same problem on my nexus 5. Battery down from 100% to 12% but apps list only adds up to 34%. The battery drain is quicker than when I upgraded to lollipop a few days ago
wa...@gmail.com <wa...@gmail.com> #7
I'm having the same issue as well on my Nexus 5. I've seen the same issue on my friends Nexus 5 as well. Please look into this.
ji...@gmail.com <ji...@gmail.com> #8
Plus 1 for this issue on a regular basis. Nexus 5, fresh install of L, and app battery percentages typically add up to about 30%, when total usage is 60-90%.
pa...@gmail.com <pa...@gmail.com> #9
Mine add 12 %!!!!
ke...@gmail.com <ke...@gmail.com> #10
27% here
gr...@gmail.com <gr...@gmail.com> #11
Same here. Nexus 5 clean lollipop install, weird battery percentages.
ma...@gmail.com <ma...@gmail.com> #12
Same here. 94% used. Apps add up to 20%.
Interestingly, no miscellaneous app mentioned, is someone trying to hide the miscellaneous battery WiFi bug ?

ra...@gmail.com <ra...@gmail.com> #14

li...@gmail.com <li...@gmail.com> #15
I have a nexus 4 and the battery adds up to only 24%. This is bad because I don't know which app eats all the power :-/
gj...@gmail.com <gj...@gmail.com> #16
same here.
ju...@gmail.com <ju...@gmail.com> #17
Same for me. Makes it tough to figure out why an idle phone is lasting a mere 8hrs.
ka...@gmail.com <ka...@gmail.com> #18
Same with a Galaxy S5. Got Lollipop on Wednesday...
4x...@gmail.com <4x...@gmail.com> #19
Same on my Nexus 5 running Lollipop. Huge battery drain!
mo...@gmail.com <mo...@gmail.com> #20
I've got the same issue, nexus 5 lollipop.
xa...@kirchner.cat <xa...@kirchner.cat> #21
Same issue. Just minutes after unplugging the charger at 100% the battery usage section just shows that the battery is at 81%, and the detailed list shows: Screen 2% nothing else!
ro...@cervenak.info <ro...@cervenak.info> #22
Same here. 60% battery consumed (40% remaining), sum of apps in list is 10%.
bl...@gmail.com <bl...@gmail.com> #23
It seems, that it's still the same! How can this be unchanged for so long? Updated my one plus one a few weeks back and I regret it heavily. Battery usage stats are not useful anymore! Please fix this!
ro...@gmail.com <ro...@gmail.com> #24
Extremely misleading.

How do the android devs responsible for this feature sleep at night? Do they all say to themselves 'haha our feature is massively misunderstood and that's awesome fcuk the world??'
I bet every Google android employee just uses iPhone so they don't have to mess with these issues and just sit there trolling the 75% cell phone market who don't want to pay for apple. Very sneaky guys.

A year later, on my new nexus 6P,running Android 6.0.1, the issue is still here. See screenshot, the apps add up to 25% used, while I have 46% left and in reality 54% is used.

OK, adding my input here. I see the same behavior on my Nexus 5 on stock as well as several custom ROMs (CM13, Pure Nexus, Cataclysm, etc.). The onset is extremely random, but seems to be associated with a transition from WiFi to data and possibly back again to WiFi. I can go days or maybe a week without issue and then suddenly see accelerated battery drain on the battery graph that is not accounted for in the battery percentages.
Possibly related.... I also occasionally notice the phone getting slightly warm in my pocket. Again, this NEVER happens at home. Only after I have left WiFi and transitioned to cell data.
This is a VERY old issue, predating my Nexus 5. It occurred on my 2013 Moto X as well, although the Moto X was worse in that it would often activate apps and/or turn the screen on in my pocket.... but only away from the house and on cell data. Never at home.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the total lack of interest in this issue from Google. This is a MAJOR flaw, and one that destroys the otherwise outstanding standby battery life of the Nexus 5 on MM. It is looking like it will not be addressed in Marshmallow, and therefore my Nexus will be abandoned with this flaw unaddressed. I have opened a bug report on it, but so far these seems to be zero interest in investigating it, let alone fixing it.
