Completely agree. I just installed the update on my tablet - very annoying.

100% agree with this.
I understand why we have swipe: because in the new UI design with the notification lists you need a way to ensure the notification list is out of the way before you display e.g. the PIN pad.
However, for users like me who a) do not even want the notifications in a list in the first place and b) just find swipe to be an irritating extra step, we can come up with a better solution.
For example, create a new notifications option to show notifications "At top of screen" (as they were before and where I would prefer them), and then so long as this option, or no notifications, was the notification option, and a security option (e.g. PIN) is set, then show an extra option to turn off swipe.
Please, UI people, stop adding additional steps to a workflow we execute dozens of times daily.

Yes, agreed. A step has been added which is utterly pointless if you have notifications turned off. I used to like my phone, now I have to work twice as hard to use it

I agree! Create a new notifications option to show notifications "At top of screen" (as they were before).
I want to quickly be able to see if I have a new notification, but I don't want all the details to be there for everyone else to see.
If I wanted everyone to see my notifications, I would have bought an iPhone.
Also, allow us to set if we want the ability to quick launch the phone or camera from the launch screen (I don't). I am very use to quickly swiping my phone to unlock it. However, with the change in lollipop, I end up in the phone or camera where I don't want to be.

+1 I hate that the most common action I take on my phone is now two swipes instead of one

Someone shoot me already. This is agonizing. Plus they got rid of lock screen widgets so I can see annoying notifications but I can't see my calendar.
Would buy the oneplusone that gives me flexibility to avoid Google's draconian idiocy (this same decision was made to format text in Gmail, made the most common feature 2 clicks instead of the older one), but the phone is huge.

I agree. The 'notification lock screen' needs to be bypassed when the notifications are set to "don't show notifications at all". The need to swipe up just in order to access the PIN/Pattern screen is unnecessary. Since I have my notification settings set to not display on display on notification lock screen, when I wake my phone I should see the notifications at the top like I did in KitKat and my PIN/Pattern screen should be displaying.
tr...@gmail.com <tr...@gmail.com> #11
Totally agree with this. It's awful to have swipe, then pattern lock. There is an extra step now that didn't exist before. I want to go directly to the pattern lock!
da...@gmail.com <da...@gmail.com> #12
Ditto.. Please don't make basic functionality involve more steps to just to accommodate some other feature.
[Deleted User] <[Deleted User]> #13
I agree. Remove the extra step.

A side effect of this extra step is that you can't access Google Now in a single swipe anymore.
On Kitkat, I used to have my phone unlocked (with a trusted device), and from the lock screen I was able to swipe up from the bottom to access Google Now directly. Now on Lollipop, that same swiping only unlocks the screen, and I have to swipe up again to get to Google Now.

The extra step to unlock is hugely annoying. Please let us have the PINpad when we push the power button!
Is this Google's way of making us use the phone less often?

Completely ridiculous! I updated my 1st gen N7 and the first thing that happens when I turn it on is an extra thing I have to do to "turn it on"! I don't want notifications public to anyone turning my device on before I unlock it with my pattern. I will be leaving my other devices on KitKat until this is fixed.
[Deleted User] <[Deleted User]> #17
My preferred option would be to overlay the pattern ui in a slightly transparent mode. If I click, behave like now. If I start swiping, summer I want to unlock.
But at the very least it should be an option to use the old behavior.

+1, completely agree. I find the extra step to be very annoying, considering I don't want to have the notifications be shown.
al...@classycode.com <al...@classycode.com> #19
this extra step is ridiculous. If the average person unlocks their phone 80 times a day than that's a lot of useless extra swipes in the world! Whoever thought this was a great idea should get instant thumb RSI.

I totally agree.
My workaround?
I just ordered some NFC tag to keep one in my pocket along with my phone and smart unlock.

Description
- On a Nexus 7 with Android 4.4.2 this callback is only invoked once when a new device is found. (although the logcat gets spammed with messages like:
I/bt-hci(7431): BLE HCI(id=62) event = 0x02)
I/bt-hci(7431): btu_ble_process_adv_pkt
I/bt-hci(7431): BLE HCI(id=62) event = 0x02)
I/bt-hci(7431): btu_ble_process_adv_pkt
etc.)
- On a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.2 the callback is invoked constantly whenever a new advertising packet is found.
How can I achieve the same behaviour on the Nexus 7? Is it an Android bug?
(Btw: on the Galaxy I9300 with latest cyanogenmod the callback is invoked constantly whereas on the Xperia C6603 with the latest cyanogenmod it's only invoked once when a new device is found.)
