Check if you are using a proxy server. If so, setup your proxy settings in settings -> http proxy.

I'm using my university's network. I will check back when I get home (where I have a more "standard" internet connection and I'm 100% sure there are no proxies and such) and post the result. Thanks for the suggestion.

Nope My machine is not behind any proxy server. Even I have also seen a thread on Stackoverflow for the same, so I am sure this is not an issue being faced by me only.

pa...@gmail.com <pa...@gmail.com> #9
Friends, it seems this issue is resolved in new version. I tried again and showing proper message and able to update Android studio successfully.
ro...@gmail.com <ro...@gmail.com> #10
if it was resolved in a previous version it is back. I am on 0.1.5 trying to check updates for 0.1.6 and it can't find a connection
mi...@gmail.com <mi...@gmail.com> #11
same issue for me. Windows 7 / 64 bit
Also worth a mention. When I go to
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/studio.html#download
Then click Download For Other Platforms
Then click android-studio-bundle-130.677228-windows.exe
It actually downloads this file:
android-studio-bundle-130.687321-windows.exe

I'm behing a proxy and stuck on 0.1.5 (130.709792). Proxy settings are set and "check connection" reports that everything is ok.
But Android Studio shows that I have the latest version installed.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
idea.log shows nothing unusual.

Description
I have downloaded Android studio and I have tried to "check update" if any release is done but it says "Connection failed. Please check your network connection and try again."
FYI, Internet is working fine. Already downloaded Android studio before.
So I would request Android Studio/SDK team to check it out and resolve this bug.
