pip freeze shows:
protobuf==2.6.1
I'll take a deeper look at the link you added, but on initial inspection, it seems to apply only to pre-98.0.0.

I think that it's not the same issue. I've fixed this one internally; I'll let you know when we have an estimate on the Cloud SDK release that it winds up in.
ad...@zweimiller.com <ad...@zweimiller.com> #5
It is not same issue, but same type of issue. Some of the same workarounds could work, for example uninstalling protobuf.
mi...@gmail.com <mi...@gmail.com> #6
This should be fixed in Cloud SDK 101.0.0, to be released.

Still not working in Android 4.3 This is very frustrating...

I get my autodiscovery working, but not android, why the hell isnt it fix now?
je...@gmail.com <je...@gmail.com> #10
Any progress? This bug has been assigned over a year ago. Our users can't autodiscover on Android in our multidomain environment. We posted instructions for manual configuration but they keep complaining.
th...@gmail.com <th...@gmail.com> #11
This is indeed a serious issue, method 4 should have been implemented along with others.
sv...@gmail.com <sv...@gmail.com> #12
As mentioned, autodiscover is completely broken with Office 365. It is absurd that this bug hasn't been fixed. It simply works on iOS devices and many 3rd party Android mail apps. I have resorted to telling my users to use this paid app to get their Exchange/Office 365 accounts setup.

Same problem for us. Why is Google ignoring that problem constantly?
Any antitrust suit specialist should look at that fact.

Come on Google, be serious about this issue. It affects businesses users daily!
ty...@brown.fm <ty...@brown.fm> #17
This is still an issue with Android 4.4.4. This issue makes autodiscovery impossible for all Office 365 / Exchange Online hosted email users. We just switched all our accounts over to Office 365, and I was stunned to realize that autodiscover doesn't work still...
ha...@gmail.com <ha...@gmail.com> #18
Still an issue with Android 5. Google is aware of the issue and flatout refuses to fix this.
I thought more of Google, but it seems they play the same dirty games as MS does.

Here we are, another Android release and the issue still remains... Even worse the stock email app is forcing us to use Gmail with our Exchange account. Can't even add or edit exchange contacts any longer and no combined view for multiple inbox's. But hey Lollipop looks good right....

That's like a 15 minute fix. How come it's not fixed yet, almost 2 years after being reported?

it's nice to have full support of autodiscover, but it would be nicer if it wuould actually work:

I am having same issue too, everything is working except andriod :(
wo...@gmail.com <wo...@gmail.com> #28
Is there any hope of this being resolved? Disappointing that this does not work. FWIW this works for IOS and has for some time.
sv...@gmail.com <sv...@gmail.com> #29
I am guessing that the issues relates to a licensing issue and will never be resolved. Google probably doesn't want to pay Microsoft licensing fees to fully implement Autodiscover properly.
[Deleted User] <[Deleted User]> #30
It's very disappointing that this still doesn't work in 5.1.1
fr...@gmail.com <fr...@gmail.com> #31
Do we really have to go to Windows Phone? Assigned since 2013...
Then again, drive support for linux was promised 'soon' in 2012 or something. I guess at Google they use space terminology when it comes to terms like 'soon'.

I support a 25k mailbox Office 365 organisation and this really isn't helping convince our users to move from iOS to Android I'm afraid. Microsoft have started developing for Android, surely Google need to start showing some love in return?
ri...@gmail.com <ri...@gmail.com> #33
Microsoft has released a silly fix for this issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3035227
I applied it and still have same crap, the mail server name won't get retrieved from the autodiscover.
Microsoft, why you being so mesquin?

With the Let's Encrypt project up and running, there is really no reason not to use one of the method that already works, because globally trusted SAN certificates are now free.

hf...@gmail.com <hf...@gmail.com> #39
Hi, is there a fix now to get autodiscovery working using android ? If not, i have to switch (2000 phones) to IOS, which actually works perfectly. Outlook for Android is quite far from being production ready.
To pay a lot for a RFC Standard App is nothing more than sassiness and money gahtering.
Google should know it better, they inhaled a lot of OpenSource software and reused it to make it commercially profitable to 20 years now, but is not (will not) be able to fix a RFC standard procedure ?
Bad.

Autodiscover support has been implemented in Gmail Exchange. Note that the stand-alone Exchange.apk is deprecated and no longer maintained.
Description
E.g. for mail address "test@example.com"

2) ask
3) ask
note: At this point the GET-request is NOT using SSL therefore it is NOT SENDING any CREDENTIALS. It's only meant to get redirected to a proper SSL-secured site (as in step 1 or 2).
4) ask SRV resource record in DNS for
for further description, see MSDN, "Finding and calling the Autodiscover service"*
Tested with Android 4.1.2 (custom) and 4.0.3 (Huawei U9200).
Missing possibilities 3) and 4) make Autodiscovery unusable in multi-domain environment. Administrators of non-Android devices usually expect autodiscovery to work cross devices.
Solution: Implement full Autodiscovery (at least step 3)... You can find further details within chapter "Redirect responses"* on how redirection is implemented. You only need to follow a HTTP/1.1 302 Found response to its new "Location: ".

You can see the behaviour also in code:

// If we fail here, we're out of options, so we let the outer try catch the

At this point a simple GET-request without any credentials should be tried against
