I wanted to update some plugin today (don't remember which, Android Studio was just pointing the update out). The update installed and AS restarted. Since then, whenever AS has been loaded, it instantly crashes with the crash log.
I am using Java 1.8.
I already deleted AS and reinstalled it, but the error persists.

I now re-installed version 2.2.3 and it opens smoothly. So the issue is related to version 2.3.0

Looks like an OpenGL related JVM crash. Maybe try using a different JDK?

I have the same issue, I updated Android studio to stable version 2.3. I cannot open the Android studio anymore. I am on MacOS 10.10.4. I do not want to downgrade my Java installation to Java 6 from Java 7 as I have dependancy on Java 7 on other projects.

Replacing the launcher does not causes a crash. But unfortunately i could not make that error happen again even after deleting Apple's Java 6 to be sure.

@#21 Where I come from that is not called "fixed". That is a workaround. It's nice that there is one, but the issue is really fixed when things "just work" in the next release, without you having to copy files around.
