Hello,
I'm completely in the fog about applications behavior since I updated my development environment.

I recently realized that my applications don't receive GCM/FCM data message anymore when the application is in background.

The last working one, currently published on the store was built with studio 1.5.2, sdk/build Tools 23, java 1.7.

I spent many hours to investigate on the problem since I updated to studio 2.1.2, java 1.8, sdk/build Tools to 24, FCM 9.2.1.

As I didn't find anything I tried with the firebase quickstart-android project in case I modified Something in my app and noticed that I get the same problem.

In fact, when I swipe the application out from the recent apps list, I get the following message, on 2 different devices and android version..

As I wasn't able to find what's wrong, I made a test with a working project of mine, based on GCM 8.4.0.
I tried to build it with studio 2.1.2, sdk 24, java 1.8 and I got the same problem.

So I tried to rebuild it with sdk 23, java 1.7 so the same environment I use to build it in the past, which gave me a working application.
But it doesn't receive data message in background and in fact, I notice that the application is also force killed when I swipe it out from the recent apps list !?!

The only difference I see now between the time I generated working project and now, is the version of Android Studio.

To add a precision, I get the same problem on 2 different computers and on one of them, I uninstalled/reinstalled everything.

So, I've reinstalled Studio 1.5 bundle 141.2422023 and application is no more Force stopped by the system and is now able to receive data-message correctly when it's in background!

Below are the detailed tests I made on both Studio 2.1.2 and Studio 1.5:

So I'm really sorry but I spent lot of time these last 2 weeks on this problem, again all this weekend and as I said again more than 3 hours this morning.
I read many post notably on Stackoverflow where we can just conclude that GCM/FCM work for some people and not for some others.

I'm now convinced at 1.000 % that despite you can have a doubt, the problem is not between the chair and the desktop but in Android Studio 2.1.2 !!!!

I cannot believe that the problem is related latitude, longitude or the temperature or I don't know what else.
So if you test the firebase project (https://github.com/firebase/quickstart-android) by yourself, you should obviously observe the same result as me.
