I also have the same issue with my Nexus 6P. After my last update of the preview version (June update) my battery only lasts a day. Main battery consumers: "Android System", "Android OS", "Google play services" (data took from Settings/Battery).

I have the same issue, my phone even drains upwards of 8% battery overnight even with little to no wakelock activity.
ac...@gmail.com <ac...@gmail.com> #12
Guys, I think this could be bluetooth-related and may have something to do with Android Wear and/or Google Now. For those of you experiencing this bug, try turning bluetooth off for the day and see if you see an improvement. I wear an Android wear watch every day so my bluetooth has always been on, but this morning I turned it off before unplugging and I'm not seeing Android System or OS anywhere in the stats. GSAM reports a very low keep awake time too.

I have been noticing excessive drain by display, currently stands at 588 mAH from 196 min of use. With Marshmellow, power usage is just over 2 times the display on time which I confirmed early this week by reverting back to Marshmellow. Please note that for me bluetooth is off.

Just upgraded to 7.0 and this issue exists. System battery usage matches screen usage after factory reset. This update was supposed to improve battery usage. Please escalate this issue.

Updated via OTA yesterday. Android system ended up consuming 1850mah on the Nexus 6P. Upon charging further to 100% since morning the battery is still on a free fall. Please find screenshots attached and kindly expedite.

I too have this problem again after upgrading to the release N 7.0 on a Nexus 6P. I do have Bluetooth on (for a Fitbit and Android Auto head unit) and this is what I got after charging over night, then using the phone for just about a half hour to an hour on Wi-Fi.

Is there any way for the public to track progress of the defect created? If not can you confirm this is a confirmed issue and provide feedback as it progresses?

Are we seriously not even going to get a comment on this? After patiently waiting since Dev Preview 3 for a resolution, and now nothing? Just a buggy 'stable' release and silence?
Can we just get some kind of acknowledgement where Google recognizes this is a serious and widespread issue and that they're (actually) working on resolving it?

Agreed, a simple confirmation at minimum. An excellent response would be to raise the priority of both this issue and 211226 (similar issue but with Android OS instead of Services) to high or critical.
I am posting everywhere I can think of to get attention to these issues. The phone is not in a very usable state. Love that it is faster but hate that it only lasts 9 hrs.

Out of interest, what happens if you restart the device after taking it off charge? That seemed to help me when I was affected by this issue.

Nothing changes after restart
Aramas,
When Google developers get back from celebrating the new release can you please prioritize this issue??? Without any feedback I have tried the following with no resolution.
1. Complete OS refresh using OTA restoration scripts provided by Google.
2. Factory reset.
3. Held off on installing any 3rs party apps.
4. Disabled On Google.
5. Tried occasional reboots.
This is when it would be appropriate for someone from the Google staff to chime in. I look forward to it when you decide to. I am happy to provide any logs requested. Thank you.

Looks like it is back to CM 13.0 and ElementalX until Android gets its act together. Maybe they can compare notes to get this fixed. That combo runs for days without issue. As much as I love catching cats and all but this update made my phone unusable.

I have the same issue on Nougat final on my nexus 6p. Very high drain from Android OS and Android System. I've even disabled most of my accounts on the device to avoid sync-loop issues.
de...@gmail.com <de...@gmail.com> #35
I've also been having poor battery life, but not the really awful numbers some others have posted. Today, I had 1h9m SOT, mostly web and email, with a little bit of camera use, taking me down to 57% in 9 hours. I'd say I'm averaging 2.5 h SOT over 18 h unplugged. On Marshmallow the worst I'd get would be 3.5h SOT / 24h, peaking at nearly 5.

On my Nexus 5X with Android 7.0 NRD90R I had no issues at first. Battery consumption was only a few % for a whole night.
After disabling battery optimisation for my SIP client (Sipdroid) I noticed something strange: Battery started to drain at 2-4% per hour (average 3% per hour) and showed big battery usage by Android System. On ealier Android versions including 6.0 there has never been such a high battery drain because Sipdroid only opens a TCP connection in the background.
What I did then was turn off sending TCP keepalive messages every 5 minutes in the app. And voila: The battery drain was gone. Only 0.6-1.3% per hour (0.6% per hour during nighttime). I could reproduce the high battery drain when enabling the code lines for sending out these TCP messages every 5 minutes again.
So this might be a clue for fixing the bug. There might be something preventing proper run of doze mode or other power savers if an app is sending a network message (when battery optimisation for the app is disabled). Note I was only sending out these messages every 5 minutes over Wifi, and Wifi never had any battery issues with this.

Nexus 6P - Upgraded to Android 7 a couple of weeks ago, have experienced consistently awful battery life. Yesterday morning my phone died during my morning ride... was 89% when I left the house, and the ride was only ~90 minutes. Even then, the screen was off a good part of the ride. Screencap of the battery usage during that time is attached.
Just upgraded OTA today to NBD90X, we'll see if there is any improvement.
Also, reset app permissions under Battery Optimization as this was recommended for addressing the battery drain issue.

I had noticed that the battery drain from my Nougat on my N6P was due to the massive wakelocks by Google Play Services that kept the CPU always awake. Namely the "net_scheduler".

Having this issue on my Nexus 9 (wifi only) since updating to Android 7.0.
I use the Nexus 9 mainly offline as a book reader and have only 1 or 2 third-party apps installed. The rest are stock google apps. I used to be able to get at least 2 weeks of battery life when the tablet is mostly on standby in between short periods of reading on Adobe pdf reader.
upgraded to Android 7.0 few weeks ago and now experiencing sudden battery drain to 0% with Android OS and Android System being the 2 main culprit.
Any idea whats going on?

Hi Guys
I had the same issue then resolved by removing the battery drain app(s). What I did was to look at the app battery usage. If you are NOT actively using those apps but they still show something more than 5% battery usage, those apps could be the culprit. Even those apps may only show 15% and your google play services show 40%, those apps are still the problem. I think those apps call the google APIs incorrectly which make google play services to drain battery like crazy.
After removing those apps, my LG G3 is working really fine. Hope this helps.

Fix this issue. This is serious. Huawei confirmed this is either a software issue, hardware issue, or combination. From reading online it seems that nougat is causing battery failure. One day my phone worked perfectly. A few months after nougat and my battery not only goes to 0 at between 10% and 60% but it turns off after only 30-60 minutes screen on time (or 3-4 hours total with combined use). My phone is 11 months old!

I'm experiencing severe battery drain. I have the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from Tmobile. My battery just now discharged from 100% to 65% in 28 minutes. All I did was poke around in the settings without changing anything, but the screen was on the entire time. The screenshots were taken after I performed a factory reset and wiped the cache twice (those are the two breaks in the green line). I can't figure out what is causing such crummy battery life, but I am getting very upset about this. I was getting a full day (10-12 hours without a recharge, streaming spotify pretty much all day at work and each way on the commute) before this Nougat garbage was released and now I get maybe an hour and a half to two hours on a single charge. This is pathetic.
