Same here, none of the following work anymore in build.gradle:
project.ext.set("archivesBaseName", "blahblah" + android.defaultConfig.versionCode)
project.archivesBaseName = "blahblah" + android.defaultConfig.versionCode
archivesBaseName = "blahblah" + android.defaultConfig.versionCode

Same here.

And it is really really frustrating, as we have just recently updated all our gradle scripts to make use of this property ('archivesBaseName').

possible regression, can you have a look ?

Downgrading to 1.2.3 fixed the issue for me for now.

this is now released in 1.3.1

This seems to be broken when trying to rename libraries (AARs) using the 'com.android .library' plugin at version 1.3.1.  Using:

apply plugin: 'com.android.library'

android {
    ...

    defaultConfig {
        ...
        archivesBaseName = 'helloworld'
        ...
    }
}

This should be fixed for libraries in the next release.

archivesBaseName is working correctly with 1.2.3 gradle plugin but is not working with 1.3.0 gradle plugin
