Title 24, California Code of Regulations

2010 Triennial Edition

Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations is administered and authored by the Building Standards Commission of the State of California. Title 24 includes the building, residential, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, energy, historical building, fire, existing building, green building, and referenced standards codes applicable in the state of California along with the standards incorporated by reference into these codes.

Source code to Title 24 was obtained by purchasing all volumes of Title 24, scanning the volumes, re-typing all text twice to ensure accuracy ("double-keying"), converting to HTML during the double-key process, and the programmatic and manual manipulation of the HTML to add additional markup.

Title 24 is considered to be in the public domain. In Veeck v. SBCCI, the 5th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals ruled:

"As law, the model codes enter the public domain and are not subject to the copyright holder's exclusive prerogatives."
