multiseat-wizard-bicefalo - issue #7

Does not show both screens

Posted on Jun 21, 2012 by Happy Rabbit

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. i7-920, GTX-260+ 2. Install Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. Use default Unity desktop.
3. Update all packages. Activate proprietary NVIDIA drivers. 4. Turn on two screens: a 1920x1080 monitor via DVI and a 1280x720 TV via HDMI 5. Reboot Ubuntu 6. Run multiseat-wizard-bicefalo 7. Enter "2" seats. 8. Only 1 screen is presented for resolution choice

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected to see 2 screens and the ability to select a resolution for each (as per the Manual). I only see a single screen option called "default".

If NVIDIA Settings is configured as TwinView, the screen has a resolution choice of 3200x1080.

If NVIDIA Settings is configured as Separate X Screen, the screen has a resolution choice of 1920x1080.

After proceeding with the wizard I can log in as either "multiseat", "seat1" or "seat2", but the experience is no different - it is simply the desktop for that 1 user spread across 2 screens.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

You should use Ubuntu 12.04 32-bits, and you must not use privative driver. You should use noveau driver for your video card. Privative drivers doesn't work with xrand as free software drivers.

Privative drivers for NVIDIA has got their own way of multiseat: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultiseatX
