btstack - issue #311

GPS disconnected after 10 minutes

Posted on Feb 7, 2013 by Grumpy Bird

Since I'm using Evasi0n method on ios 6.1 when I connect btstack to my gps chip, after 10 minutes my navigation application say to me the gps is off. If I run btstack, he reactivate the bluetooth like if I run the app for the first time.

I'm on iPad 3 black 16gb Wifi with old connect cable on ios 6.1 jailbreaked with Evasi0n.

I attached the log from crashreporter and the hci_dump.pklg from btstack.

Hi. Thanks for the crashlog. I know why it crashes and will try to fix it in the next day. There's also another bug which I hope to find.

Thanks for your quick response.

My father has the same bug on his iPad Mini.

Hi. Please try this: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/ch.ringwald.gps_1.7.3-2_iphoneos-arm.deb

It fixed the issue with crashes right after connect, and runs longer than 10 minutes. Also, it uses the full screen of the new tall devices (iPhone/iPod 5).

let me know how it works for you.

It's seems to work but I've tested indoor and I don't move. This afternoon (GMT+1), I'll make a long distance in my car (1h).

I'll let you know.

Hi., Thanks for testing. As it seems I currently don't have a proper Bluetooth GPS receiver (the old one doesn't get a fix anymore, the Holux I bought not much longer than a year ago has a broken battery, the Nexus 7 got from 30% battery yesterday night to empty this morning.. - gotta have to either figure out how to claim warranty on the Holux or buy yet another one).

Hi! Thanks for testing it. I'm happy its in a working state. However, I still want to replace it (free or with at least 50% rebate) with a BTC GPS - that's my new line of products that integrate with iOS Bluetooth, so you can keep using your headset etc.

BTstack GPS 1.7.3 is available in Cydia and works fine so far.

I confirm, that with BTstack GPS 1.7.3, the problem that GPS is suddenly disconnected after few minutes fully remain present on iPad 2 wifi 16 GB. I tested twice, yesterday and this morning, and the connection is lost after few minutes (the bluetooth icon at the top of the screen disappears). I tried to put the fix, but it screws up the program which crashes at startup.

A side question: I use BTstack with Pathaway GPS program, which in principle is supposed to stay active even in the background. It works fine on my iPhone not jaibreaked. With the jailbreaked iPad 2, using BTstack, it does not remain active in the background, even if the corresponding parameters is active. I believe that it arises, because the bluetooth connection is not recognized as the GPS connection (the small arraow at the top of the screen). Is there a way to do it with BT stack ?

Thanks

Same problem here.. both Ipad2 64 GB Wifi and an Ipad 4 16 GB - BTstack 1.7.3-2 stops working after 10mins.

Glad to read that I'm not the only one having this issue. Latest iOS (6.1.2) and latest BTstack installed, the stack goes down after 10 minutes.

Please fix this issue - it makes the software pointless for me ...

Hi. I hope I found a way to keep it running. Could you try this version and report back please: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/ch.ringwald.gps_1.7.4-2_iphoneos-arm.deb

hi matthias,

is this the same version asit is available on Cydia now? Or do I have to download this file, ssh onto the iPhone and run dpkg -i locally?

Cheers and thanks for the support

of course not :) 1.7.3 is on Cydia. I wanted to get some feedback like "It finally works!" before getting everybody updated. alternatively, if you have iFile installed, you can click on it in Safari and then tap "open in iFile", which will offer to install it (afaik)

Okay, but the earliest I could try is in ten days time. Hopefully others may give you feedback sooner ...!

Hi

I have testet the BTStackGPS with or without third-part Navigation App.

When I only use BTStcakGPS app. I lose no connection the GPS receiver. But when i Start a third-part App. like WAZE, it loses the connection after approx. 5 to 10 min. after start of WAZE app.

Hope that it will help to make this wonderful app. be more wonderful.

Keep up the good work.

Chers

Sander

i Have used V10.7.4 from Cydia today, without the connection to the GPS receiver will fall out for almost an hour. So it is working fine now. Five Stars for this program. 😎 Chers
