What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Install TomTom 1.8 2. Install BTStack (Last version on Cydia) 3. Open TomTom ..and the menus are without texts...
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Every texts on TomTom App don't exist.. There are menu but without the text inside. If with the console i check the logs, i recive an error with the TomTom App and the Fonts that the App can't find.. before install BTStack the TomTom function without problems!
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
iOs 4.2.1, TomTom Italy 1.8, BTStack GPS 1.3

Posted on Dec 2, 2011 by Swift Oxhi. was BTstack the first package that required MobileSubstrate? Sounds like a weird JB to me. I don't see TomTom Italy in the iTunes, all other versions are 1.9, BTstack GPS 1.3 is really old. Please restore, check and see if e.g. SBSettings work well, and then install TomTom again from iTunes and BTstack GPS from Cydia.

Posted on Dec 2, 2011 by Happy DogHi, on Apple Store is writed as "TomTom Italia" and my version is 1.8. Not 1.9 BTStack GPS is 1.6-29782 and i have bought it on Cydia some weeks ago.. I haven't install SBSettings.. I restore Ipod Touch G2 to factory default, and installed first TomTom and next BTStack GPS..some think..

Posted on Dec 2, 2011 by Swift OxI don't see how BTstack or BTstack GPS could cause such changes.
Please restore, check and see if other packages that use MobileSubstrate work well, e.g. SBSettings.

Posted on Dec 4, 2011 by Happy DogHi, i have installed the update of TomTom Italy (v. 1.9) and i have the same error. I don't se the texts of menus on TomTom App. I read the logs of my Ipod and the console error on TomTom App is:
Italia [1235] nil passed to [UILabel setFont:] and [UILabel defaultFont] is also nil. Don't know what to do, so leaving font as (null) 0.000000
If i unistall the BTStack GPS from Cydia and i repring the springboard..my TomTom App function without problems! There is something wrong with the BtStack App and text on TomTom. This version of BTStack on changes list have this: - TomTom: remove 'connect to GPS' message
Have something with my error on TomTom? ... There is possible to install a previous version of BTStack..? Bye. Ruzzine

Posted on Dec 4, 2011 by Grumpy KangarooHi. I am having exactly the same problem after installing the latest update
I am running 4.3.3 and was running the W Europe 1.8. So I updated to 1.9 to see I that made a difference but get the same. It just seems to be a font problem. If I disable btstack everything works fine. Any ideas? Cheers

Posted on Dec 4, 2011 by Swift Oxhi. To get rid of TomTom's "Connect to GPS..." message, BTstack GPS 1.6 patches system functions that are used to detect the device type. TomTom will think that it is running on an iPhone.
I don't see how this relates to font or display problems.
The previous version is available, sure, it's here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/GPS-1.5-25900.deb (google 'install deb' - iClarified has an UI tutorial - it's much easier on the command line).
Does that help?

Posted on Dec 5, 2011 by Happy DogOk, thks! With 1.5 function! If it can help you, my device is a Ipod G2 with iOs 4.2.1 and without internal GPS. I use a Holux 1000 GPS bluetooth device. I hope that you find the error with TomTom app! If you need, you can contact to my mail! Bye. Ruzzine

Posted on Dec 5, 2011 by Swift Ox@ruzzine84: that's really mysterious. TomTom (D-A-CH) 1.9 is fine on the iPod touch 4 with 5.0. I will enable the iPod fix on my iPhone with 4.3.3.

Posted on Dec 5, 2011 by Happy DogUnfortunately i can't update iOs over 4.2.1 version. Perhaps there is something different with management of fonts in iOs 4.2.1. The strange think ..if i unistall only BtStack app without other packets installed the first time with BtStack GPS, the TomTom app return to function. Strange. However, with 1.5 function without problems! I'll make tests with gps and tomtom ;)

Posted on Dec 18, 2011 by Swift OxHi! I've downgraded my iPod 4 to 4.2.1, Jailbroke, and installed TomTom D-A-CH and BTstack GPS 1.6. All labels are how they are supposed to be.
Could everybody withthis issue send me their list of installed packages to see what set of packages might trigger this. The easiest way is to click the on the Author "Matthias Ringwald" twice and enter "labels missing in TomTom" in the mail.
A blind guess could be that BTstack GPS might confuse a theming engine like Winterboard, anybody has that and can try if removing that helps?
Thx!
Posted on Dec 21, 2011 by Swift Oxhi. I think I found a pattern! None with this problems has an iPod Touch 4. The current version makes TomTom believe it runs on an iPhone 4 (GSM). The iPhone 4 is very similar to the iPod Touch 4 and also has the Retina display. So, my current guess is that the labels have gone missing because TomTom is told that it runs on a Retina-device while it isn't and it might ask for high-res resources which are just not there or cannot be used. I'll try on an iPhone 3G next (have no older iPod Touch device) to see if the problem manifests there, and if yes, add a proper mapping. (iPod Touch 4 -> iPhone 4, iPod 3G -> iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2 -> iPhone 3..)
Posted on Dec 21, 2011 by Swift Oxok. next update. I'm still not able to reproduce it (the iPhone 3G is on 3.1.3, where TomTom cannot be installed), but i've implemented a better mapping nevertheless.
Here's the new version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/GPS-1.6.1-29985.deb
Please report back if it works or not and which iPod touch model you have.

When I install Version 1.5 labels are back, but TomTom doesn't work properly - gps location jumps all over... I have IPod 3 with TomTom 1.9. Upgraded to iOs5 few days ago. TomTom 1.9 and BTStack 1.5 worked fine on iOs 4 before for me.

Uninstall BTStack using Cydia. TomTom menu items now display.
Install BTStack GPS via Cydia. Menu items disappear again - even without BTStack running.

Posted on Jan 5, 2012 by Grumpy KangarooI only recently upgraded my iPod 3G to 5.01 from 4.3.3.
As we worked out before, the labels disappeared on 4.3.3 with your first release of BT Stack 1.6. When you brought out the new version of 29985 (which I think you only released to fix the lables not working in 4.x), the labels came back and everything worked fine!
Only since people have now upgraded to 5.01, the labels have gone again! Shall we try the original 1.6 again (if you can provide the deb) and see if that works? I have a feeling it may..............!

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by Helpful BirdThat'd be awesome if you could, matthias, cuz I like 5.0.1 far better than 4.3 iOS, and I don't wanna continue to use my family member's 4gen...i mean it works on 5.0.1 and all but I like using my 3rd gen lol
Cuz when I was using family's 4gen IPod on 5.0.1, I took 7 hour trip and it worked all the way, but I perfer my music to their's

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by Swift Oxwell. it turns out, the device I got is an iPod Touch 2G. that doesn't help. You cannot install 5.0.1 on it anyway. :( The 3rd gen seems to very rare here in Zurich.

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by Grumpy KangarooIs it possible to try the original 1.6 that you released which didn't seem to give labels in 4.3.3? You must have done something (seemed to be a fairly quick change) as the new 1.6 you then released did give the labels in 4.3.3.
Or maybe remove the new feature (think you said you removed the msg which asks to connect a GPS) - I don't mind having that message up the top if it works with 5.0.1!!
Many thanks!

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by Helpful Birdhmmm, wish I could help, all I can say is i had 5.0.1 on my 3rd gen and no labels on 1.6.1 and tomtom 1.9 then i downgraded to 4.3 and labels came up on tomtom 1.9 and btstack 1.6.1, then i lost my ipod and we were going on long trip so i jailbroke my mom's 4th gen IOS 5.0.1 Ipod and put 1.6.1 btstack and all the other required programs they make you download with it, like mobile substrate, and 1.9 tomtom USA on it and it was fine all the way through the trip

Posted on Feb 7, 2012 by Grumpy KangarooCould you provide a link to your Dropbox with the original released 1.6; if you remember, the labels didn't work on 4.3.3 but your updated release fixed the issue for 4.3.3 users but broke it for 5.0.1 users (I am not sure it ever worked for 5.0.1 but something must have changed in the updated 1.6 so you never know!)
Would be a quick test to see what happens - worth a try! I am going away next week and desperately need this to work as the wife has a iPhone 4 on 5.0.1 and the GPS seems to have got broken on it so I need the iPod working!!
Cheers

Posted on Feb 7, 2012 by Swift Ox@gerglane: you can use BTstack GPS on the iPhone 4 with 5.0.1. Also I don't think it ever worked on iPod Touch 3G with 5.0.1 (if yes, I could just go back to that). (I don't have the 1.6 version handy but you could use 1.5, too: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/GPS-1.5-25900.deb)

Posted on May 6, 2012 by Swift OxWeird, I thought I had posted about first results. Anyways. Here's a new GPS-Support.dylib for people eager to test: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5138628/GPS-Support.dylib - you have to remove the old version before copying the new one into /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/
This fixes the labels in TomTom and Nike+ GPS. It also properly adds the GPS capability to the iOS (avoids problems installing apps that "require GPS")
Please let me know how well it works. I'll release an update ot BTstack GPS in the next days with that version.
