expected buttons in sidebar... i see a grey buttonless bar, but hovering on an area where a button should be does pop-up context help with the button title

gtk seems to be suffering from some regressions this go around, could be the cause no useful info dumped in the console the program works fine, except the sidebar strace produces huge amounts of mouse monitoring info, but i didn't notice anything useful
