What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Fresh boot and load acer_acpi module 2. cd /sys/class/backlight/ 3. Directory is empty
What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The directory should have files that can control the screen brightness
What version of acer_acpi are you using? On which distribution and kernel version? Version 0.7 is the first version which works on my Acer TravelMate 3260, on Kubuntu 7.04 with the default kernel.
Please provide any additional information below. Adding support for this means that gnome-power-manager and other software can use a generic way to set screen brightness on acer laptops. Here is a cross-reference with a bug I filed on gnome bugzilla - http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=467080 Please tell me if I can provide any more information.

Posted on Aug 17, 2007 by Grumpy BirdAlready ahead of you on that one - the code to do this is already in subversion, and will be released with 0.8
I've posted to the Gnome bug asking them to close the bug there as it's not a Gnome bug.
However, I don't know if acer_acpi supports controlling brightness on your laptop - could you please send me the output of (as root):
cat /proc/acpi/dsdt > ~/dsdt
(i.e. send me the newly created dsdt file in your user's home directory).
