As a student enrolled in a Bachelor’s Honours degree in computer science & Software Engineering, I am applying for the google summer of code 2008. In fact, I would really like to get involved in an open- source organisation so my work could profit to anyone. I am a particularly interested in the Easy Backup Tool pro ject, which would enable windows user (either desktop users or professionals) to have a descent application handling backups and recovery in case of data loss or corruption.
I feel really attracted to open-source development. I think, I finally have the requirements, technological knowledge and background to participate efficiently in open source software development. I really want to get involved in it as I think it is the best way to improve existing application and speed up software innovation and I have been using open source application for ages without being able to thank the community for such good products by contributing as well in the development. Open source has changed the computer science field in a matter of years, and the google summer of code is a great opportunity for me to apply everything I have learned in the past few years about software development with a way of thinking that I match totally with. Even more, giving me the ability to get supervised by existing actors of open source development that could put me into the right track if I diverge from what is needed . All of this built in a great opportunity as summer job. Thanks to Google. |
