While the Mono Framework is easily production-ready and of very high quality and in many cases can run code targeted at the .NET Framework without changes, it is difficult to gain mindshare among .NET developers due to the difficulty of using the Mono Framework with their usual tools. This project aims to rectify that issue by providing an Add-In for modern versions of Visual Studio (2005 and 2008) that supports compilation and testing via the Mono Framework. In addition, the project will provide the functionality necessary to remotely test Mono applications on alternate operating systems (chiefly Linux, but with potential support for Mac OS X) over a network or in a virtual machine.
