This proposal will add dtrace support to Hurd. dtrace allows inspection and instrumentation of kernel and userland code at runtime. This is very useful and will help with several high-priority projects in the Hurd community. It is especially beneficial for tuning the VM and I/O systems, as well as for debugging and developing new drivers. Dtrace will also help with bug reports since its aim is to be useful not only in the development environment but also on live machines. This will speed up development overall and attract more developers to the community by making it easier to work on Hurd.
