Having finished my high school in July 2007 and currently on a gap year waiting to start an Aeronautical Engineering degree at London's Imperial College, I am confident I am an ideal candidate for Google's Summer of Code programme. Most of my software engineering has been in Java and JavaScript, and I am keen to start using this experience to contribute to open source projects. I look forward to learning what it's like to work professionally within the community, should I want to take it up software engineering as a career once I have finished my degree. I got into writing code at school when I was 15 , while doing a high school computing project in Microsoft Access and Excel.

Why choose me? I'm a highly intelligent and motivated individual who is willing to work hard for something that excites and interests. I don't just want to learn how things work, but also the fundamentals of why they work the way they do; and perhaps more importantly why certain things don't actually work as they should. I think asking such questions is the key to improving as a programmer or any other professional. I am certain that working on this project will capture my interest and I know that I will be able to produce results of the highest quality.
