I have proposed to implement various wavelet-based imaging application in GIMP. My first goal will be to implement the JPEG2000 image format using the jasper image library. I will then go on to implement image denoising wherein we try to remove noise from an image using some special type of blurring. I also propose to implement inverse halftoning which has applications in improving quality of scanned images. Another possible imaging application is feature detection which can be useful for maintaning image databases.
